The newer Android 4.2 Jelly Bean version comes with a lot of new features such as new camera app with photo sphere, improved keyboard app, and more. Now the stunning clock app from Android 4.2 is also available for download, as you can see the above screenshots. Google has redesigned the app and make it bit more attention-getting, it also adds timer and stopwatch.
However it’s compatible with just Android AOSP firmware, you might try it on any Nexus device or on CyanogenMod, or AOKP or any that custom ROM that based on AOSP firmware. It’s pretty easy to install the Android 4.2 Clock app, you can install it via a file manager app and custom recovery.
If you want to install via a file manager app, make sure you’re using a root-enabled file manager such as file expert. Go to /system/app folder, there rename DeskClock.apk file, then download the DeskClock.apk, then place it to /system/app folder. Then set the permissions of the DeskClock.apk file to RW- R– R–. Reboot your phone and you’re done. If you want to use any custom recovery, simple download 4.2Clock.zip, copy the file to your device, reboot device into recovery mode, install .zip file and reboot the phone. If your phone shows force close errors when you set alarm, go to Setting>Apps, there swipe to All tab, then tap on Clock icon, then clear the Clock data by tapping on Clear data.
