Android 4.1 Jelly Bean CM10 Arrives for Original Galaxy Tab

The CyanogenMod 10 (CM10), based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, has been landed on original Samsung Galaxy Tab, the ROM brings a smooth performance and gives you a new Android experience, thanks to recognized XDA developer cdesai.

But the ROM has still many bugs like auto-rotation animation is like weird, it’s not very smooth, external SD card isn’t work and some other minor bugs. The ROM isn’t very stable for daily use, it’s just for to taste Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Read on how to install Android 4.1 Jelly Bean CyanogenMod 10 on Samsung Galaxy Tab but first make sure that ClockworkMod recovery is installed on your Galaxy Tab, be sure to make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the latest version of ROM from here [XDA LINK] and Google Apps package from here.

Step #2: Copy both .zip files under SD card of device.

Step #3: Turn the device off.

Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down volume up and power buttons until screen turns on (Note: In recovery mode use volume keys to navigate and power button to select).

Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #6: Perform full wipe, first select wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on next screen, select wipe cache and confirm on next screen, then select advanced, and then select wipe dalvik cache, then Yes wipe dalvik.

Step #7: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded CM10 .zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete.

Step #8: Repeat the last step to install Google Apps package.

Step #9: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”
