AOKP Ice Cream Sandwich ROM For Your T-Mobile G2X [How-To]
We all know well about AOKP ROM, now it’s becoming more popular, it has been released for many devices, and now it’s available for T-Mobile G2X, it’s a great news for its users, thanks to Whitehawkx of XDA Developers, who ported it. This ROM based on Ice Cream Sandwich, it has so many features and it’s much fast too.
If you’re interested follow below guide to install it, but keep in mind that your device must be rooted with ClockworkMod recovery installed its battery should be charged. Please make a backup of your device data because the below procedure will wipe all data, and turn the USB Debugging on, to do so just tap Menu> Settings> Application> Development. Then, make sure that USB debugging is checked.
DISCLAIMER: The below method is bit risky and we will not be held responsible if you lose data or your device gets damaged in the following of this guide so please proceed at your own risk.
Instructions
Step #1: Download the aokp_p999-test2.zip file on PC.
Step #2: Connect your device to the computer via USB cable and copy the zip file you downloaded earlier to the root directory of your SD card.
Step #3: Disconnect the device from PC and turn it off.
Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode, in recovery, do a nandroid backup by selecting “backup> backup and restore> then backup” to start saving your old ROM. (This will make a full backup of your existing ROM, and save it to the SD card. You can restore from this backup, if something gets messed up with the installation.)
Step #5: Now do a full wipe by selecting Mount and Storage then wipe the following:
- Format System
- Format Data
- Format Cache
- Go back to main menu and select advance then wipe dalvik-cache.
Step #6: From the main menu select “install zip from Sd card> choose zip from Sd card>” then select the aokp_p999-test2.zip to start flashing the AOKP ROM (ICS), once the flashing done, go back to main menu and select “Reboot System now”. That’s it, your device will reboot with AOKP rom. Now install Google Apps.
Step #7: Download the gapps-ics-20120224-signed.zip on PC.
Step #8: Connect your phone to the computer via USB cable and copy the gapps-ics-20120224-signed.zip to the root directory of your SD card.
Step #:9: Now disconnect device to PC and turn it off.
Step #10: Reboot into recovery mode and from the recovery main menu select “install zip from Sd card> choose zip from Sd card>” then select the gapps-ics-20120224-signed.zip to start flashing the Google Apps. Once flashing done, go back to main menu and select “Reboot System now“.
