ASUS Transformer TF300T Receives Android 4.1 Jelly Bean [How-To]

Number of developers are working on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to port the software to their Android devices, many of them have achieved the success, we’ve saw Jelly Bean port on many Android device and a recognized hardworking XDA developer XpLoDWilD have ported the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to the ASUS Transformer TF300T.

The developer ported the build from the AOSP Jelly Bean sources, however it’s earlier build and many things aren’t working currently like Camera and HW Video playback aren’t working, the audio volume stuck at 50% and audio recording isn’t working, you can’t take screenshots. It’s a experimental build, if you really want to taste the Jelly Bean, you try this build.

Before installation first make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps, a custom recovery should be installed on your tablet, you can use this guide to install ClockworkMod recovery or use this guide to install TWRP recovery on your Transformer TF300T.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the latest version of ROM from here [XDA LINK] and Google Apps package from here and copy both files to the SD card.

Step #2: Turn the device off and reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down volume down and power button until screen turn on saying press volume up, then press it to enter in recovery.

Step #3: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again. When you need to go back, put the device into recovery mode and restore this backup.

Step #4: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen.

Step #5: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” then select the ROM .zip file and confirm installation, once the ROM is installed on tablet, install the Google Apps package in the same way.

Step #6: Select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”
