ClockworkMod Recovery 6.0 Releases for Galaxy S3 [How-To]

ClockworkMod (CWM) recovery is becoming a must have recovery for Android devices with the passage of time because it’s pretty easy to use custom recovery for installation of custom ROMs, wipe device, make the backup of existing ROM and more. Recently the guy behind ClockworkMod Koushik Dutta has updated the ClockworkMod recovery to the version 6.0 that is now also available for the Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300.

Now you’ll take the backup fast, the CWM recovery 6.0 also decrease the backup size just 15MB to 20MB and much more. You no need to use physical keys to navigate and select menus, this version also allow you to use touch controls in recovery mode.

Read on how to install CWM Recovery 6.0 on Galaxy S3, do note that USB drivers should be installed on your PC, you can download Galaxy S3 USB 32 bit (x86) Windows drivers from here and 64-bit (x64) Windows from here. Disable all system tools such as Samsung KIES, antivirus, firewall program.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the ClockworkMod recovery 6.0 (recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.0.7-i9300.tar) and Odin 3 (Odin3_v3.04.zip) to your PC.

Step #2: Unzip the Odin 3 .zip files into the folder, then run .exe file of Odin 3.

Step #3: Turn the device off.

Step #4: Reboot the device into download mode by holding down Volume Down, Home and Power until device’s screen turns on, then just press Volume Up and it will take you to download mode.

Step #5: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will turn yellow and a message saying ADDED will appear. (Note: If Odin doesn’t detect the device, make sure that USB drivers are properly installed on your computer).

Step #6: Click on PDA Button and locate recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.0.7-i9300.tar that you downloaded in first step (Note: Don’t make any change, just make sure that re-partition is unchecked).

Step #7: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS (Note: If Odin refuse to install the update and show message FAIL, or get stuck, close the Odin and unplug device, then pull out battery from the device for a few seconds. Then put the battery back to the device and reboot into download mode. Then install the firmware again.

That’s it, unplug the device from PC, the ClockworkMod recovery 6.0 is now installed on your device, to check, turn the phone off and reboot into recovery mode by holding down home, volume up and power buttons. You can comment below for queries.

    Hi
    I have a samsung Galaxy S3 with baseband XXLH1.
    I am still stuck up with android 4.0.4

    i did not receive any OTA update so far

    how to get the update to 4.1.2.

    i am in United Arab Emirates
