ClockworkMod Recovery Up for Nexus 7 Officially [How-To]
The ClockworkMod recovery (CWM Recovery) is like a must have custom recovery for Android devices for flashing custom ROMs, Mods, wiping device, taking the backup of existing ROM, etc. Those of you have purchased Nexus 7 and now looking for a custom recovery, we’ve got good news for them. The ClockworkMod recovery is now available for their ASUS tablet officially.
There are both versions, touch and basic, most of you know well about difference between them, the touch ClockworkMod recovery enables you to use your device’s touch controls in recovery mode but basic version not, if you use basic ClockworkMod recovery, you have to use physical keys of your device to navigate and select menus.
Take a look on below guide to install ClockworkMod Recovery on your Google Nexus 7 tablet but first make sure that the bootloader of your device is unlocked, it’s rooted, USB drivers also should be installed on your computer, you can use this easy to use Nexus toolkit to do all. You can also use WugFresh toolkit for everything, this toolkit also install CWM recovery but not touch CWM recovery. Before you do anything be sure to make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions
Step #1: Download the latest version of ClockworkMod Recovery, current version is 6.0, you can download Touch ClockworkMod Recovery 6.0 from here and simple ClockworkMod recovery 6.0 from here, you can also check official page here.
Step #2: Download Fastboot package (Fastboot.zip) to your PC.
Step #3: Unzip the downloaded Fastboot.zip into C:\, you’ll get fastboot folder containing four files, then copy the downloaded recovery .img file into fastboot folder too that you downloaded in first step.
Step #4: Download and install ES File Explorer File Manager on your Google tablet.
Step #5: Launch ES File Explorer app on the device, tap on menu, then tap on Settings, then check the option named Up to Root, then scroll down and also check Root Explorer, when tablet ask for root access, tap on Allow/Grant. After that check Mount File System Option, then go back. Now tap on Up until you get outermost folder, then open system folder, then long tap on recovery-from-boot.p file if the files is there, a menu will appear, from there delete it.
Step #6: Turn the USB Debugging on tablet, to do so just tap Menu> Settings> Application> Development.
Step #7: Plug the tablet to PC using USB cable, it may ask for driver installation, install them.
Step #8: Open command prompt on PC.
Step #9: Enter following command to enter in fastboot folder:
cd C:\Fastboot
Step #10: Enter following command, it will reboot the device into fastboot mode:
adb reboot downloader
Step #11: Install the recovery by following command, do note that you need to replace * by your recovery file name that you transferred in fastboot folder in step 3:
flash recovery *.img
Once the recovery is installed, you’ll get a message saying finished/OKAY.
Step #12: Enter following command to reboot device:
fastboot reboot
That’s it, you’re done. Whenever you need to use ClockworkMod recovery, simply turn the tablet off and reboot by holding down Volume Up, volume Down, Power buttons until you enter in recovery mode.
