Codename Android ROM for HTC myTouch 4G, Based on Android 4.1
The HTC myTouch 4G already has seen CyanogenMod 10 Jelly Bean based build but it’s not very stable and we’re now with another one to taste Jelly Bean, Codename Android custom ROM that also based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and has been released for your HTC myTouch 4G, thanks to senior XDA developer member named 0.0.
The CodenameAndroid ROM gives you fully stock Android experience and brings fast experience to your phone, the ROM includes number of customizable features that lets you to customize almost every part of the interface such as themes, customizable SMS apps, customizable phone app, customizable power menu, customizable status bar (battery style, notification, clock style), customizable lockscreen bar, customizable sound setting and more. The ROM also has many helpful tweaks. As you know well that Jelly Bean comes with so many new features and apps such as Google Now app, new smarter keyboard app, new search feature and much more.
The ROM is still in development stages currently and has some bugs like front camera isn’t working, LED is just for charging, Wi-Fi hotspot issues, you can use Wi-Fi tether app to fix it, however the developer will iron out these as soon as possible.
Read on how to install Codename Android ROM on HTC myTouch 4G, the bootloader of phone must be unlocked and ClockworkMod recovery also must be installed the phone. Before you install the ROM first be sure to make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions
Step #1: Download the latest version of ROM from here (Codename_Android_v3.3.2_port.zip), download Google Apps from here or here (gapps-jb-20120726-signed.zip) and also download camera and backlight fix (Codename-Android-3.3.2-1-SAGA-BLINDNDUMB.zip).
Step #2: Place three downloaded .zip files to the SD card of device.
Step #3: Turn the device off.
Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down volume down power buttons, first you’ll enter in HBOOT, there select recovery option to enter in recovery mode (Note: In recovery mode use volume keys to navigate and power button to select).
Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.
Step #6: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen then Select mounts and storage, then select format system, and confirm the action on next screen.
Step #7: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded Codename_Android_v3.3.2_port.zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete.
Step #8: Repeat the last step and install gapps-jb-20120726-signed.zip file in the same manner.
Step #9: Once again, repeat the step 7 and install the Codename-Android-3.3.2-1-SAGA-BLINDNDUMB.zip file in the same manner.
Step #10: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”
That’s it, the Codename Android ROM is now installed on your HTC myTouch 4G, if you faced any problem in above guide, do comment.
