CyanogenMod 10 Nightly Build Up for Verizon Galaxy S3
There are four US Samsung Galaxy S3 variants, three of them already have received the CyanogenMod 10, but it’s bit difficult to port a ROM on Verizon Galaxy S3 due to locked bootloader but not impossible, CyanogenMod 10 nightly build is finally available for the Verizon Galaxy S3 unofficially, the CyanogenMod 10 (CM10) nightly build is based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, thanks to recognized XDA developer member incubus26jc for this great effort.
The ROM gives you fully stock Android experience, it brings a fast performance and has number of customizable features, as most of you know well that the Jelly Bean comes with so many new features too such as Google Now, improved notification bar, improved camera app, improved keyboard app, stunning interface and more.
But the ROM is still in beta, so you can expect bugs but it’s ready for try. Read on how to install the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean based CyanogenMod 10 (CM10) nightly build on your Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3.
The ROM needs a k-exec recovery, first you’ll have to install k-exec recovery, your device must be rooted with ClockworkMod recovery installed, you can follow our this guide to root the phone and follow our this guide to install ClockworkMod recovery. Be sure to make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Step #2: Place both downloaded .zip files to the SD card of device.
Step #3: Now you need to backup IMEI/EFS date, because K-exec recovery may erase it, to do so first download and install Android Terminal Emulator.
Step #4: Launch the Terminal Emulator app, and enter following command, after entering command the phone may ask for confirmation, simply allow/grant them:
Step #5: Now enter another following command, it will save the IMEI/EFS to internal SD card:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p11 of=/sdcard/efs.sbn
Step #6: Plug the phone to PC and save the save the “efs.sbn” file to PC from the internal SD card that you saved in last step.
Step #7: Now you need to install K-exec recovery, first download the K-exec recovery from here.
Step #8: Place the download .img file to the internal SD card, don’t place on any folder, place directly to SD card.
Step #9: Launch Terminal Emulator, enter following command again, it may ask for confirmation, simply allow/grant them:
Step #10: Enter following commands to install recovery:
dd if=/sdcard/d2vzw_recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18 bs=256k
The phone will reboot into ClockworkMod recovery.
Step #11: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.
Step #12: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen.
Step #13: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded ROM file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete. After ROM installation, also install the Google Apps package .zip file in the same manner.
Step #14: Once the installation is done, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.” The phone may reboot into recovery again, if it happens, reboot phone again.
Step #15: That’s it, the ROM is installed on your phone, now restore the IMEI/EFS Backup, first check the IMIE number from Setting>About Phone>Status, it you see 0 instead of IMEI number, you have to restore it, otherwise you’re done. To restore, once again, install Terminal Emulator, and launch it.
Step #16: Enter following command, after entering command the phone may ask for confirmation, simply allow/grant them:
Step #17: Enter following commands to restore the IMEI number:
dd if=/sdcard/efs.sbn of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p11
Step #18: The device will reboot into recovery mode, reboot into normal mode manually by selecting reboot system now.
That’s it, enjoy CyanogenMod 10 nightly build, when you need to go back, hold the power button nd reboot the phone, the device will enter in ClockworkMod recovery, there perform wipe, to do so, select wipe data/factory reset and confirm it, then select backup and restore to restore your previous ROM.
