CyanogenMod 9 For Your Asus Transformer Prime [How-To]
Official Ice Cream Sandwich update already available for Transformer Prime, but some users still prefer CyanogenMod 9, here’s CM9 ROM for Transformer Prime, but it still under beta stage so you can expect some bugs, and expect to see some update that will release soon, however you can flash it on your device.
If you’re interested follow below guide to install it, but keep in mind that your device must be rooted with ClockworkMod recovery installed and unlock bootloader its battery should be charged. Please make a backup of your device data because the below procedure will wipe all data, and turn the USB Debugging on, to do so just tap Menu> Settings> Application> Development. Then, make sure that USB debugging is checked.
DISCLAIMER: The below method is bit risky and we will not be held responsible if you lose data or your device gets damaged in the following of this guide so please proceed at your own risk.
Step #1: Download the most recent nightly build of the CyanogenMod 9 ROM to PC.
Step #2: Download the Google Apps package to PC, It contains all the necessary Google apps like Android Market and Gmail that are not originally present in the CyanogenMod 9 ROM.
Step #3: Connect device to your PC using USB cable and copy the two downloaded ZIP files to the root of your tablet’s external SD card.
Step #4: Now turn the device off and reboot into recovery.
Step #5: In ClockworkMod Recovery, perform a full wipe:
- Select “wipe data/ factory reset”, then choose “Yes” on the screen that follows to confirm the data wipe.
- Select “Advanced”, then choose “wipe dalvik cache”, then select “Yes” on the screen that follows to confirm wiping your tablet’s dalvik cache.
- Select “go back” to go back to the main recovery options.
Step #6: Now you need to select “install zip from sdcard”, then select “choose zip from sdcard”. Browse for the downloaded CM9 ZIP file that you have copied to the tablet earlier and select it. Confirm the installation by selecting “Yes”. The CM9 ROM will now be flashed to your phone. It may take some time.
Step #7: Repeat the last step, but this time choose the Google apps package file.
Step #8: Once the installation is finished, select “go back” then select “reboot system now” to reboot your tablet. That’s it enjoy!
