Download and Install Android 4.2.1 Update for Nexus 10 – Guide
The new Samsung Nexus 10 tablet runs the latest Android version – Android 4.2, but in recent times a bug has been founded in the calendar app of Android 4.2 “there’s no December month”, however Nexus 10 owners should not be worried about that because Google is now rolling out a new JOP40D firmware for your Nexus 10 having firmware version Android 4.2.1 through OTA, this new firmware update fix the December bug, it seems to be a minor update because there’s no other improvement we found yet expect December bug fix.
So pick up your Nexus 10, the battery should be charged, go to Setting>About device, there tap on System update to check for the JOP40D firmware OTA notification. Make sure you’re using a Windows PC with Android ADB drivers installed, you may follow our this guide to install Android ADB. Step #1: Download Android 4.2.1 OTA Update for Nexus 10 from here.
Step #2: Turn your tablet off.
Step #3: Reboot your Nexus 10 by holding down volume up, volume down and power buttons, when fastboot menu and “start” appear on the screen, press the volume up button to highlight recovery option and then press power button to enter in recovery mode. When Android logo with red exclamation appear, press the volume up and power button at a time to open up a menu, there select “apply update from adb”.
Step #4: Connect your Nexus 10 tablet to PC using a USB cable.
Step #5: Open up the command prompt that you can find at start menu>programs>accessories. Then using command prompt, navigate to the folder where you’ve downloaded above update zip file, if you’re using Windows 7 or above, you can open the command prompt directly from the folder, to do so open the folder, there press right click on mouse while holding down shift button on keyboard, then select “open command prompt here”.
Step #6: Enter following command on command prompt to install the update:
adb sideload 07ac4f5d6c30.signed-mantaray-JOP40D-from-JOP40C.07ac4f5d.zip
The above will open a progress bar on your Nexus 10 tablet screen, after that it will start the installation of update. Once the installation is done, your tablet will reboot automatically.
Step #7: Unplug your Nexus 10 tablet from PC.
