Easily Install TWRP, ClockworkMod, Touch ClockworkMod Recovery on T-Mobile Galaxy S2
Custom recovery allows you to install different things on your Android device, you can flash custom ROMs, modes, tweaks and much more. You can also take nandroid backup of your Android’s device existing ROM and wipe the complete Android device in recovery mode, in a nutshell, you can’t apply hacks on your Android device without a custom recovery.
On many devices installation of custom recovery is bit tricky, you’ll have to use bootloader mode, Odin etc to install a custom recovery but here’s good news for the owners of T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 SGH-T989, now they can use an app to make recovery switching easy, thanks to recognized XDA developer “starskyrob”.
You can do the task via USB connection using a Windows app if you want and you can also use Android to do this. The Windows app is one-click tool, on the other hand Android app is still in development stage. You can switch between TWRP, ClockworkMod and Touch-Enabled ClockworkMod, please note that backups may not be compatible across all recoveries, which means when you switch, you should recreate your Nandroid.
Before you start first keep in mind that your device must be rooted and make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.
First of all download this recoveries on computer, then unzip it and then transfer it to SD card of your device. Now if you want try the APK file, first make sure that you’ve installed a file manger app on your Android device, you can use the File Expert which is a best file Manger app for Android. Once you’ve installed a file manger app on your device, download this APK and transfer it to the device, then open file manager app and locate the downloaded APK file and tap on it to start installation. That’s it, now open app and install select recovery that you want as below screen shot:
Now if you want to install the recovery via one click tool first make sure that you’ve installed the USB drivers on your device, you can download the 32 bit (x86) Windows from hereand 64-bit (x64) Windows from here. Now download the this recovery file to PC and unzip on desktop. Then on your device turn the USB Debugging on, to do so just tap Menu> Settings> Application> Development. Now just plug the device to PC using USB cable and run Easy Automated Recovery Switcher.bat file from desktop and follow the on screen instructions.
