Easily Root or Unroot Motorola Razr HD Using a Utility [How-To]

A recognized XDA developer member mattlgroff has released a Droid Razr HD utility tool that lets you to easily root and unroot (restoring stock firmware) on your Motorola RAZR HD, even it install the Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper app that lets you to get root access back after the installation of any official update. The tool works on both Verizon Droid Razr HD and non-Verizon Droid Razr HD but restoring stock firmware might not work currently on non-Verizon Droid Razr, so don’t try it on non-Verizon Razr HD.
Droid Razr HD utility is pretty easy to use and fast, the below guide shows you how to use the utility on Droid Razr HD, first turn the USB Debugging on, to do so just tap Menu> Settings> Application> Development.

Step #1: Download the latest version of Motorola Droid Razr HD utility to your PC from here [XDA Link]
Step #2: Unzip the downloaded .zip file into a folder, it will extract “DROID_RAZR_HD_Utility” folder.
Step #3: Open the DROID_RAZR_HD_Utility” folder, go to drivers folder and install drivers.
Step #4: Plug your Razr HD to PC using USB cable, PC will install drivers, let the installation finish.
Step #5: Now open the folder again and run DROID_RAZR_HD_Utility file, and press any key on the initial screen to get main menu.
Step #6: Here are different options for different purpose, like if you want to root, press 2. If you want to install Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper app, press 3 or if you want to restore the stock firmware, then use the first option. It may ask to put your phone into fastboot mode, to do so turn your phone off and reboot it by holing down volume up, volume down and power buttons, there use volume keys to navigate and power button to select. You need to select AP fastboot option to enter in fastboot mode.
