Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Gets First Jelly Bean OTA Update – Installation Guide

Just a few days on IFA 2012, Samsung said that they’ll push out the Jelly Bean update soon in near future for Samsung devices, the Samsung hasn’t released the Jelly Bean update for any of them, however Galaxy S3 already has seen a leaked Jelly Bean OTA update and now Samsung has just leaked a JRO03C OTA Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 in India.

It’s just a test build, so it might contains some bugs and issues but those of you who really want to get Jelly Bean.

Here’s how to install leaked Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean P3100DDBLI1 OTA update on Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0  (JRO03C). Before you install it, first be sure to make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps. Use a Windows PC and USB drives must be installed on your PC.

Instructions

Step #1: Your Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 should be running Android 4.0.4 ICS firmware version P3100DDBLH3, you can check your device detail from Setting>About Device. If you’re already on P3100DDBLH3 version, don’t install it and skip step 1 to step 10. If you’re not on P3100DDBLH3 firmware, download it from here.

Step #2: Unzip the downloaded P3100DDBLH3 firmware .zip file into a folder on PC.

Step #3: Now download the required Odin 1.85.zip file to your PC.

Step #4: Unzip downloaded Odin 1.85.zip file into a folder.

Step #5: Open the folder where you’ve unzipped above file and run Odin.

Step #6: Turn the device off.

Step #7: Reboot the device into download mode by holding down Power Button and Volume down button.

Step #8: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will turn yellow/blue and a message saying ADDED will appear. (Note: If Odin doesn’t detect the device, make sure that USB drivers are properly installed on your computer).

Step #9: Click on PDA Button and locate P3100DDBLH3_P3100ODDBLH1_P3100DDLG1_HOME.tar.md5 from the folder where you’ve unzipped above files in the step 2. (Note: Don’t make any change, just make sure that re-partition is unchecked).

Step #10: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS (Note: If Odin refuse to install the update and show message FAIL, or get stuck, close the Odin and unplug device, then pull out battery from the device for a few seconds. Then put the battery back to the device and reboot into download mode. Then install the firmware again.

Step #11: Now download leaked OTA Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean P3100DDBLI1 OTA Update.

Step #12: Copy the downloaded OTA update .zip file to your device’s external SD card.

Step #13: Reboot your phone into stock recovery mode by holding down power button and volume up button.

Step #14: Select Apply update from External Storage, then locate the OTA update .zip file (GT-P3100_P3100DDBLI1-OTA-P3100DDBLH3_INU_309560155.zip) you just downloaded and install it.

Step #15: Once the installation is done, also perform wipe, to do so select “Wipe Data/Factory Restore” and confirm this action.

Step #16: Reboot your tablet.

That’s it, the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean is now installed on your Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, enjoy! If you faced any issue, do comment below.
