Get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for HTC One X [How-To]

When HTC will release the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for the HTC One X? No date now, but HTC One X users should now be worried because Jelly Bean is already available and a senior XDA developer tgascoigne has ported the Jelly Bean with SDK to your HTC One X, flash and enjoy improved notification bar, Jelly Bean enables you to answer your calls, SMS and emails directly from the notification bar, it also comes with a voice assistant and Google Now service. The Android 4.1 Jelly Bean brings number of new features to the Android devices.

Here’s guide to install Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on HTC One X but first do keep in mind that this is SDK port which means it’s just a preview and unstable for daily use, you can install to just taste Jelly Bean. Some features aren’t working currently such as Wi-Fi, camera and audio.

Before installation first make sure the device bootloader is unlocked and ClockworkMod recovery is installed on the device, unlock bootloader here and install ClockworkMod recovery here. You can use this toolkit to unlock bootloader and install ClockworkMod recovery too. Make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup to back apps, and USB drivers should be installed on PC, use HTC sync to install USB drivers but during installation HTC Sync should not be running.

How to Install Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on HTC One X

Step #1: Download the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, then copy it to the device’s SD card.

Step #2: Download Flash_Boot.zip and unzip into a folder on computer, then unzip the downloaded zip file into a folder.

Step #3: Now open the “jellybean_endeavoru_tgascoigne.zip” file that you downloaded in first step, and unzip the boot.img file, once you’ve got the boot.img file, copy it to the folder where you extracted the Flash_Boot.img file in last step.

Step #3: Switch off the phone and put into bootloader mode by pressing and holding down Volume down and power button, there use volume keys to navigate and power to select, and select fastboot mode.

Step #4: Once you’re in fastboot mode plug the device to PC using USB cable, go to folder where you’ve unzipped above files and double click on flash-boot-windows.bat, a window will show up installing the required kernel, once it done it will close itself.

Step #5: Disconnect the phone from PC, and on device select HBOOT, then select RECOVERY.

Step #6: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #7: Go back to main menu and perform full wipe, first select Wipe Data/Factory Reset and confirm then select Wipe Dalvik Cache and confirm. After that select mounts and storage, then select format system and confirm it.

Step #8: From main recovery menu, select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the jellybean_endeavoru_tgascoigne.zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation and wait until installation complete. Installation should take time.

Step #9: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”

When you need to revert back to Ice Cream Sandwich, just turn the phone off and put it on recovery mode, there restore your pervious ROM.
