Get Tablet UI on Samsung Captivate Via CyanTablet 9 ROM


Mostly people love to use new things on their smartphones , now they can enjoy tablet-like UI on their Samsung Captivate via CyanTablet 9 custom ROM, thanks to XDA developer “saranhai”. A few days the CyanTablet 9 was released for Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 and now also available for Samsung Captivate.

The ROM turns your Samsung Captivate into tablet, the CyanTablet 9 ROM is based on CM9 Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich build IMM76D and has great features, the ROM is still in development stage, which means it may has some bugs like developer said that the ROM has usual CM9 bugs, but it’s stable see below guide to install it on your Samsung Captivate.

Before you start first keep in mind that the CyanTablet 9 is just for Samsung Captivate model number SGH-1897, you can check the device detail from Setting>About Phone. Your device must be rooted with ClockworkMod recovery installed its battery should be charged, make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Install First Time

Step #1: Download the latest version of ROM from here and Google Apps from here.

Step #2: Transfer the downloaded files to root of phone’s SD card.

Step #3: Turn the device off and reboot into recovery mode by pressing and holding down Home +  Power + Volume Up keys until you the screen powers on.

Step #4: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #5: Perform full wipe, select wipe data/factory reset and confirm on next screen, then select Wipe Cache Partition too.

Step #6: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete.

Step #7: Repeat last step to install Google Apps.  

Step #8: Once again perform wipe, first select Wipe Data/Factory Reset and confirm, then select Wipe Cache Partition.

Step #9: Return to main menu and select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”

Upgrade from CM7

Step #1: Download the latest version of ROM from here.
