How To Charge Fast Galaxy Nexus On A USB Connection
AC connection is better to charge fast Samsung Galaxy Nexus than USB charger. But now you make USB charger fast too, XDA developer chad0989 make it possible by a kernel. It forces the device to charge fast, you can use it with car chargers, inductive chargers (through pogo pins), and MHL. But sadly installing the patch seems rather impossible or complicated for ordinary Galaxy Nexus users.
The patch is exclusive to those who know their code, the developer gave a code that is intended for kernel developers only, in his word: “useless to those who do not/can not compile their own kernel.” However if you have knowledge to flash kernels to your Galaxy Nexus, you can flash a kernel that supports fast charge or force AC charging. You’ll need a rooted Galaxy Nexus to install custom kernel.
Users says the patch has been incorporated into the Franco Kernel, if you’re interested a suggested combo is the AOKP ROM and the Franco Kernel and first you should flash the AOKP ROM to your phone and after that flash Franco Kernel.
Once you’ve got that set up, install IncrediControl app, once you’ve installed launch it and open General tab. Now tap on Force fast charge. Then tap on Apply. To toggle the Force fast charge setting, you can buy the Fastcharge / Force AC Togglewidget for easy access to the setting from your homescreen. After that plug the device to PC using USB cable and check that the phone is now detected as charging on an AC connection. Now your device should charge faster (as if on AC) on a USB connection thanks to Force AC (Fast) Charging.
