How to Enable Wi-Fi Hotspot and USB/Bluetooth Tethering on HTC EVO 4G LTE

HTC EVO 4G LTE is also one of best mid-range HTC smartphone that comes with nice features and XDA developer member smw6180 has made a mod that enables its users to enable native USB and Bluetooth network tethering, the mod also unlock the WiFi hotspot on their HTC Android smrtphone, it will add a line to build.prop that previously was found on the original EVO 4G.

If you’re one those who want to use this mode to enable the WiFi Hotspot and USB & Bluetooth tethering, see the below guide to install this mode but first make sure that you’ve installed a custom recovery on your smartphone, you can follow this guide to install ClockworkMod recovery or this guide to install TWRP recovery and make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the Mod from here [XDA link] and transfer the downloaded file to SD card of device.

Step #2: Turn the device off.

Step #3: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down volume down and power button, first device will enter in bootloader mode, there select the recovery option (Note: In recovery mode use volume keys to navigate and power button to select).

Step #4: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything goes wrong, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #5: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete.

Step #6: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”
