How To Install Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for AT&T Galaxy Note SGH-I717
The original AT&T Galaxy Note SGH-I717 is now receiving the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update officially that you can grab through OTA or Samsung KIES, this AT&T Galaxy Note contains build number JZO54K and firmware version I717UCMD3.
Jelly Bean update for AT&T Galaxy Note SGH-I717 brings tons of new features to make your life easy, I can notice that most of them are ported from Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 such as multi-window feature, new widgets and more. However AT&T Galaxy Note Jelly Bean update bumps very smooth performance and stability, page buddy app, customization options for notification panel, smart rotation, gesture-based keyboard, and many more.
As I said above that you can update your AT&T Galaxy Note using Samsung KIES or OTA, but if you’re not able to update your phablet with them, simply download and install it manually using Odin.
This guide shows you how to download and install Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for AT&T Galaxy Note SGH-I717 with I717UCMD3 firmware, use a Windows PC and ensure drivers are installed. Make a backup of phone’s date as the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use the carbon Android app to backup apps and data. Disable all system tools on PC such as Samsung KIES, antivirus, firewall program.

Step #1: Download the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean I717UCMD3 firmware from here.
Firmware File Name: I717UCMD3_I717ATTMD3_ATT.zip
Step #2: Unzip both downloaded zip files into a folder.
Step #3: Open the folder where you’ve unzipped above file and run Odin3 v3.04.exe.
Step #4: Turn the device off.
Step #5: Reboot the device into download mode by holding down volume down, home and power buttons until you warning screen appear, then press volume up button to enter in download mode.
Step #6: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will turn yellow and a message saying ADDED will appear. (Note: If Odin doesn’t detect the device, make sure that USB drivers are properly installed on your computer).
Step #7: Click on PDA Button and locate I717UCMD3_I717ATTMD3_ATT_HOME.tar.md5 from the folder where you’ve unzipped above files in the step 2. (Note: Don’t make any change, just make sure that re-partition is unchecked).
Step #8: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS (Note: If Odin refuse to install the update and show message FAIL, or get stuck, close the Odin and unplug device, then pull out battery from the device for a few seconds. Then put the battery back to the device and reboot into download mode. Then install the firmware again.
Step #9: If your device reboot into normal mode, you’re done, enjoy! But if you device gets stuck at boot screen, you need to perform wipe, to do so, turn off device, then reboot into recovery mode by holding down volume up, home and power buttons, in recovery mode, select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen. Once it done, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now” to reboot phone.
