How To Install AOKP for Nexus 4 – available now


Google Nexus 4 is really one of best smartphone of the year, might be this is the reason Android development community seems to paying special attention on Nexus 4 like the most popular AOKP custom ROM has been arrived for the phone, thanks to senior XDA developer member jackpham for sharing the unofficial build of AOKP for Nexus 4 that is delivered by AOKP (Android Open Kang Project) team member Xoomdev.

The AOKP is known for its wonderful customizable features that lets you to customize the interface your Nexus 4 and it gives you a great AOSP-stock experience. It also features theme support that already includes many fan-made themes to give a stunning look to your Nexus 4.

Read on how to install AOKP ROM on Nexus 4. Make sure the bootloader of your Nexus 4 is unlocked and ClockworkMod recovery is installed on it, you can follow our this guide to unlock bootloader and this guide to install official ClockworkMod recovery. You need to make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the AOKP ROM and Google Apps Package to your PC from XDA.

Step #2: Transfer both .zip files to your Nexus 4.

Step #3: Turn the device off.

Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode, to do so reboot phone by holding down volume down and power buttons into bootloader mode, there select recovery option to enter in recovery mode.

Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #6: Perform wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen.

Step #7: Return to main menu by selecting “Go Back”.

Step #8: Select “Install” and locate the downloaded ROM .zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation.

Step #9: Repeat the previous step again and install the Google Apps package .zip file in the same manner.

Step #10: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now” to reboot the phone.
