How To Install Docs Barebone ROM for Galaxy S4 I9500

The Samsung Galaxy S4 seems a supernova of this year as it does shine with amazing features that takes your life’s status to a bit higher level, the phone has been entered to the playground of development community and they’re treating phone with various custom ROMs, if Samsung’s blotware are irritating you, get the awesome treat of Doc’s Barebone ROM to get rid of them, thanks to recognized XDA developer DocRambone.

Developer has removed a lot of bloats from Docs Barebone ROM (check list here), it’s deodexed, zipaligned and highly optimized, you have Nova Launcher + Holo Launcher HD to make fun with home screen, the browser is AOSP, reboot menu is a bit extended, you’ll get a dark Google Play and there are many other tweaks to support your life.

This guide shows you how to install Docs Barebone ROM for Galaxy S4 I9500. Make sure your Galaxy S4 have a custom recovery installed, you can check this guide to install ClockworkMod recovery and this guide to install TWRP recovery. Make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use the carbon Android app to backup apps and data.

Step #1: Download the Docs Barebone ROM for Galaxy S4 from here.

Step #2: Download following tweaks (it’s optional):

Step #3: Transfer downloaded zip files to internal storage of phone.

Step #4: Turn the device off.

Step #5: Reboot the device into recovery mode, to do this, reboot phone by holding down volume up, home and power buttons.

Step #6: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again, if you’re on TWRP recovery, click on “backup” and slide the blue button to confirm the action.

Step #7: In recovery mode, perform wipe, select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen then select wipe cache and confirm on the next screen. At the end, select advanced, then select “wipe dalvik cache” and confirm action.

Step #8: Return to main menu by selecting “Go Back”.

Step #9: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” or select “install” for TWRP and locate the downloaded ROM file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation (you can follow this step again to install optional theme and video addon).

Step #10: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now” to reboot phone.
