How To Install monxDIFIED ROM for Sony Xperia Z


The Sony Xperia Z is pretty stylish experience of this year, the elegant design with water resistant did a lot to boost the popularity of flagship phone for this year, this is the reason Sony managed to make a sale record with Xperia Z, now developers are picking up their best features for phone as custom ROMs that give you a new slant to overcome on problems like here we have monxDIFIED ROM developed by recognized XDA developer monx.

The monxDIFIED is light custom ROM and bump up GooManager folder check, improved power menu, new Wi-Fi & Mobile signal merge concept, messaging link text color, email folder icon, extended volume controls, updated Play store and Maps, calendar edit text and a lot more, it will give a dark look and feel to your Xperia Z via DARK theme even monxDIFIED brings a UI action bar, you can get a lot of transparent aspects with the installation of extra add-ons such as transparent navigation Bar Extra Mod monxDIFIED-SeXZ-253, permanent menu button and Status bar & Navigation Bar Transparency.

Requirements

  • Keep in mind that your Sony Xperia Z must have unlocked bootloader, check this guide to unlock bootloader.
  • Make sure a custom recovery is installed on your Xperia Z, check this guide to install ClockworkMod recovery or this guide to install TWRP recovery.
  • You need a Windows PC and make sure USB drivers for Xperia Z and Android ADB drivers are installed. Use official Sony PC software to install USB drivers and check this guide (for Windows) or this guide (for Mac) to install Android ADB.
  • Backup everything because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use the carbon Android app to backup apps and data.

Instructions

Step #1: Turn off your Sony Xperia Z and reboot into recovery mode by holding down volume up and power buttons, in recovery mode create nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again, if you’re on TWRP recovery, click on “backup” and slide the blue button to confirm the action.

Step #2: Download monXdifiedZ ROM for Sony Xperia Z from here.

Step #3: Download following transparent add-ons, it’s optional, you may skip this step:

Step #4: Copy the zip file to internal storage of your Sony Xperia Z.

Step #5: Reboot phone into fastboot mode, to do this reboot phone by holding down volume down and power buttons and there select recovery mode.

Step #6: In recovery mode, perform wipe, select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen then select wipe cache and confirm on the next screen. At the end, select advanced, then select “wipe dalvik cache” and confirm action.

Step #7: Return to main menu by selecting “Go Back”.

Step #8: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” or select “install” for TWRP and locate the downloaded file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation.

Step #9: If you downloaded any add-on, repeat the previous step and install it in same manner.

Step #10: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now” to reboot phone.

Step #11: Flash Flash latest Sony’s firmware (FTF) matching current latest monxDIFIED base rom using flashtools. Uncheck all WIPE options and exclude all EXCEPT KERNEL &BASEBAND to get latest matched kernel & baseband.

Step #12: Turn off phone.
