How To Install ReVolt ROM for T-Mobile Galaxy S4


Of course it’s a difficult and painful task to try custom ROMs one by one to experience different features but what do you feel if you get a lot in one place? The Android development community love to feel your pain and share tips and tricks like a senior XDA developer johnhany97 did with Samsung Galaxy S4 with T-Mobile network, he has cooked a combination of CyanogenMod, AOKP and Paranoid Android as ReVolt ROM for T-Mobile Galaxy S4.

In fact the T-Mobile Galaxy S4 ReVolt ROM is PACman-like ROM to provide features from various roms even the developer did cross the limit of combination and added many other features such as Per-App-DPI, Per-App-Color, Power Widget, option to select saving location in camera, option to control cursor in text fields using volume keys, and interesting multi user option. There’s a lot that I’m not mentioning and you should experience, so give T-Mobile Galaxy S4 taste of ReVolt ROM. This is nightly build of ROM that generate new builds automatically to bring new updates.

This guide shows you how to install ReVolt ROM for T-Mobile Galaxy S4. Make sure your phone is rooted with a custom recovery installed, you can check this guide to root your T-Mobile Galaxy S4 and this guide to install TWRP recovery on it. Be sure to make a backup of your phone because the below guide will wipe the phone, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use the carbon Android app to backup apps and data.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the ReVolt ROM for T-Mobile Galaxy S4 from here and Google Apps package from here.

Step #2: Transfer both downloaded zip files to internal storage of your phone.

Step #3: Turn the device off.

Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down volume up, home and power buttons.

Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. Click on “backup” and slide the blue button to confirm the action.

Step #6: In recovery mode, perform wipe, select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen then select wipe cache and confirm on the next screen. At the end, select advanced, then select “wipe dalvik cache” and confirm action.

Step #7: Return to main menu by selecting “Go Back”.

Step #8: Select “Install” and locate the downloaded ROM zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation.

Step #9: Once the installation is done, repeat the previous step again to install Google Apps package zip file.

Step #10: Once the installation is completed, once again Wipe Cache / Dalvik-Cache.

Step #11: Select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now” to reboot phone.
