So you are looking for custom recovery to install custom ROMs on your Motorola Droid Bionic? Well! Here’s Safestrap Recovery, it stays away from your phone’s primary system when flashing to the phone or altering the phone in a significant way. It’s better than bootstrap recovery, this recovery is intended for phones with locked bootloaders.Sometime a minor issue comes that you are using Bootstrap and you cannot access recovery to revert to your previous OS, however there are also times that the damage to your phone is irreversible. This recovery is like Bootstrap, but it is much safer in the sense that when you flash a ROM.
This recovery works by limiting the changes in your primary system and only flash to a secondary system on device, it contains three main components: the Safestrap app (APK), Safestrap Recovery, and the hijack. Safestrap app (APK) works as as the foundation for the two other parts of Safestrap, it allows you to install the two other parts through the “Install Recovery” button in the app. It works as an indicator from where you can check if you have a current recovery installed, what version, installed or not, or if it’s an old version of recovery.
Now let’s talk about Safestrap Recovery, it’s like ClockworkMod Recovery with some features, it based on CWM, it has Safestrap Menu at the bottom of the main menu. It has “Safe System: ENABLED/DISABLED” at the top of the menu too, when this recovery is opening in non-safe mode, it doesn’t allows to flash ZIP packages into your phone, if you want to flash, they will be flashed to the secondary system (thus, keeping your main system safe). The last component Hijack, it is installed to your primary system.
