How To Install TWRP Recovery for Nexus 10 – Guide


Whenever you think about to install a custom ROM or to take the backup of your Android device, you’ll have to use a custom recovery to do so. The TWRP is a well-known and of course easy-to-use custom recovery that you can find around, thanks to recognized XDA developer member Dees_Troy, he has released the TWRP recovery for the Nexus 10, now installation of .zip files is now pretty easy on your Nexus 10, the TWRP recovery isn’t limited to just a few features – installation of .zip files, wipe and backups, but it also features a innovative touch-interface, file manager, theme manager, onscreen keyboard to name and rename backups and more.

This guide shows you how to install the TWRP recovery on Nexus 10. Make sure the bootloader of your Nexus 10 is unlocked and you’re using a Windows PC with Android ADB drivers installed. Be sure to check our this guide to unlock bootloader and this guide to install Android ADB drivers.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the TWRP Recovery (openrecovery-twrp-2.3.2.2-manta.img) and the Fastboot package (fastboot.zip) to your Windows PC from XDA.

Step #2: Unzip the fastboot.zip file into C:\, it will extract a fastboot folder having four files, then copy the openrecovery-twrp-2.3.2.2-manta.img file that you downloaded in previous step to fastboot folder too.

Step #3: Turn your tablet off.

Step #4: Reboot your Nexus 10 into fastboot mode, to do so reboot the phone by holding volume down and power buttons until screen turns with “Start” message.

Step #5: Plug your Nexus 10 to PC using USB cable, the computer may ask for drivers installation, allow installation.

Step #6: Open up command prompt, you can find it under Start menu>programs>accessories. If you’re using Windows 8, right-click on left corner of task bar.

Step #7: Enter following command on command prompt to navigate to fastboot folder:

cd c:\fastboot

Step #8: Enter following command to make sure your phone is connected to PC properly, if it shows serial number, your phone is connected.

fastboot devices

Step #9: Enter following command to install TWRP recovery:

fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.3.2.2-manta.img

After installation, it will show a message “finished/OKAY”.

Step #10: Enter following command to reboot your Nexus 10.

fastboot reboot

Step #11: Unplug the Nexus 10 from PC.

That’s it, the TWRP recovery is now installed on your phone. To try TWRP recovery, turn your phone off and reboot it by holding down volume down and power buttons, it will take you to bootloader mode, there select recovery option to enter in recovery mode, enjoy!
