How to Root and Install ClockworkMod Recovery on Galaxy Player 5.0 [Any Variant Expect Korean]
Rooting voids all limitations of manufacturer and gives you complete control over your Android device, it lets you to install all root-required apps such as non-market apps, custom ROMs, MODs and more. ClockworkMod recovery is also must have tool for those who love to flash .zip files containing custom ROMs, hacks, MODs, tweaks and more, it lets you to take the backup of your firmware and wipe device.
Those of you own a Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 and want to root and install ClockworkMod (CWM) recovery, here’s all you want. The below step by step guide will walk you through how to root and install ClockworkMod recovery on Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0, this method works on all variant, US and international variant, however it doesn’t work on Korean Galaxy Player 5.0. The method has especially been released for those of you have upgraded their Galaxy Player 5.0 to official Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread firmware update and have lost root and recovery.

Use a Windows PC and USB device drivers must be installed on the PC, you may use Samsung KIES to install drivers but during installation is should not be running, before installation disable all system tools such as Samsung KIES, antivirus, firewall program, please make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps. Turn the USB Debugging on, to do so just tap Menu> Settings> Application> Development.

Instructions
Step #1: Download one of following ClockworkMod recovery img according to your variant to your computer:
- Download CWM for US (DD_01142012.tar)
- Download CWM for International (YP-G70-Kernel-r14.tar)
Step #2: Download Superoneclick (Suproneclick.zip) to your computer.
Step #3: Download the required Odin3 v1.7.exe to your PC.
Step #4: Now run the Odin3 v1.7.exe that you downloaded in previous step.
Step #5: Turn the device off.
Step #6: Reboot the device into download mode, to do so, hold down the volume down key on device while plugging the phone to PC via USB cable.
Step #7: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will turn yellow and a message saying ADDED will appear. (Note: If Odin doesn’t detect the device, make sure that USB drivers are properly installed on your computer).
Step #8: Click on PDA Button and locate YP-G70-Kernel-r14.tar or DD_01142012.tar from the folder where you’ve unzipped above files in the step 2. (Note: Don’t make any change, just make sure that re-partition is unchecked).
Step #9: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS (Note: If Odin refuse to install the update and show message FAIL, or get stuck, close the Odin and unplug device, then pull out battery from the device for a few seconds. Then put the battery back to the device and reboot into download mode. Then install the firmware again.
Step #10: That’s it, the ClockworkMod recovery is now installed on your phone, now let’s root the device.
Step #11: Unzip the Superoneclick.zip that you downloaded in step 2 and run Superoneclick file.
Step #12: Click on button labeled Root and it will start rooting the device. The device may reboot during rooting.
Step #13: Once the rooting is finished, unplug the device from PC.
That’s it, your Galaxy Player 5.0 is now rooted with ClockworkMod recovery is installed. When you need to boot recovery mode, reboot device by holding down power and volume up buttons.
