How To Root AT&T Galaxy Note 2 with CF-Auto-Root (works on LTE variant too)
Just a few days ago we posted a guide to root AT&T Galaxy Note 2, it was good because it root your AT&T Note 2 successfully but here’s another root tool for your AT&T Galaxy Note 2 – Chainfire CF-Auto-Root tool. It’s most popular root tool for Android devices and has just been released for the A&T Galaxy Note 2.
For Chainfire lovers, here’s a guide to learn how to root AT&T Galaxy Note 2 with CF-Auto-Root tool. It’s important to note that this root tool will increase the flash counter but you can reset the flash counter using Chainfire’s Triangle Away Android app. This tool works on both AT&T Galaxy Note 2 variants – original AT&T Galaxy Note 2 and AT&T Galaxy Note LTE.
Make sure you’re using a Windows PC with USB phone drivers installed, you may use Samsung KIES to install drivers but during installation it must be disabled, before you start rooting, first disable all system tools such as Samsung KIES, antivirus, firewall program, etc because they can disturb rooting process.

Step #2: Unzip the downloaded .zip file into a folder.
Step #3: Download the Odin3_v3.04.zip file and unzip it into a folder too.
Step #4: Download to computer and unzip it into a single folder.
Step #5: Open the folder where you’ve unzipped above file and run Odin.
Step #6: Turn the device off.
Step #7: Reboot the device into download mode, to do so reboot your Note 2 by holding down volume down, home and power buttons until screen turns on, then press volume up button to enter in download mode.
Step #8: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will change the color and a message saying ADDED will appear. (Note: If Odin doesn’t detect the device, make sure that USB drivers are properly installed on your computer).
Step #9: Click on PDA Button and locate CF-Auto-Root-.tar.md5 file from the folder where you’ve unzipped above files in the step 2. (Note: Don’t make any change, just make sure that re-partition is unchecked).
Step #10: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation done, your device will reboot itself into recovery mode and you’ll see message saying PASS (Note: If Odin refuse to install the update and show message FAIL, or get stuck, close the Odin and unplug device, then pull out battery from the device for a few seconds. Then put the battery back to the device and reboot into download mode. Then install the firmware again.
Step #11: If your device reboot doesn’t reboot into recovery mode, turn off phone again, then reboot into download mode, install the rooting file again but this time uncheck the “Auto Reboot” in Odin, once the installation is done and Odin has shown the PASS message, remove battery from the device for a few second, then put battery back to phone, then reboot phone into recovery mode manually by holding down volume up, home and power buttons. In recovery mode, the CF-Root-Tool will root the phone automatically and once the rooting is done, it will reboot your phone itself.
That’s it, your AT&T Galaxy Note 2 is rooted, now you can install any root-required app. Download and install Triangle Away app to reset the flash counter, enjoy!
