How To Root Galaxy S3 on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean – Guide
Last month Samsung rolled out the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 and as most of you know well that official OTA updates void the root access of your Galaxy S3. However Galaxy S3 running Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean can now easily be rooted using Chainfire CF-Root tool, you’ll again be able to have full control over your Galaxy S3 with root access. Even the CF-Root doesn’t only root your Galaxy S3 on Jelly Bean but also install the ClockworkMod recovery that allow you to easily install custom ROMs, perform backup and wipe.
Here’s step-by-step guide to learn how to root and install ClockworkMod recovery on Galaxy S3 I9300 running Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean using CF-Root tool. Use a Windows PC and USB drivers of device should be installed on your PC, you can download 32 bit (x86) Windows fromhere and 64-bit (x64) Windows from here. Charge the device battery and make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Step #2: Unzip both .zip files into a folder.
Step #3: Open the folder where you’ve unzipped above file and run Odin3 v3.04.exe.
Step #3: Turn the device off.
Step #4: Reboot the device into download mode, to do so reboot phone by holding down volume down, home and power buttons.
Step #5: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will turn yellow and a message saying ADDED will appear. (Note: If Odin doesn’t detect the device, make sure that USB drivers are properly installed on your computer).
Step #6: Click on PDA Button and locate CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4.tar from the folder where you’ve unzipped above files in the step 2. (Note: Don’t make any change, just make sure that re-partition is unchecked).
Step #7: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS (Note: If Odin refuse to install the update and show message FAIL, or get stuck, close the Odin and unplug device, then pull out battery from the device for a few seconds. Then put the battery back to the device and reboot into download mode. Then install the firmware again.
Step #8: Unplug your Galaxy S3 from PC now.
That’s it, you’re done, your Galaxy S3 running Jelly Bean is rooted now with ClockworkMod recovery installed. Be sure to use Triangle Away to reset the flash counter of your Galaxy S3, enjoy!
