How To Root Galaxy S3 on Mac [US & Canadian Only]

Rooting makes you able to have full control over your Android device. Those of you own a US or Canadian Galaxy S3 and looking for a root, your search has been stopped here. Here’s step by step root guide for your US and Canadian Galaxy S3. Please do keep in mind that since rooting voids limitations of manufacturer on the device, it also voids warranty of device, however you get the warranty back by installing an official firmware.

The below guide will walk you through how to root Galaxy S3 on Mac. Your phone battery must be charged and make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps. On your Galaxy S3 turn the USB Debugging on, to do so just tap Menu> Settings> Application> Development.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the Rooting Package (GalaxyS3RootUSCanadaMac.zip) to your Mac OSX machine.

Step #2: Unzip the downloaded GalaxyS3RootUSCanadaMac.zip on desktop.

Step #3: Plug your Galaxy S3 to Mac using a USB cable.

Step #4: Open up Terminal and enter following commands one by one:

cd Desktop

cd GalaxyS3RootUSCanadaMac

sh RootMac.sh

Your phone will reboot during the rooting process (Note: If you face any problem, reboot phone and try via a different USB port).

Step #5: Once the process is done, go to Google Play store, there download and install SuperUser app on your galaxy S3.

That’s it, you’re done, now you can install any root-required app on your phone. Be sure to use ROM Manager app from the Google Play store to install the ClockworkMod recovery too that will make you able to install .zip files containing custom ROMs and tweaks, it also allows you to take the backup of device, enjoy!
