Though various Verizon smartphones have been hard nut to crack but it doesn’t really stop the Android community to explore hacks like a senior XDA developer open1your1eyes0 has released a new root method for Verizon Galaxy S4 that is less convoluted, you no need to wipe your Verizon GS4 SCH-I545, simply install a kernel, launch Motochopper Root Exploit Tool and then flash the kernel again. How easy method is it?

This method won’t disturb bootloader with anything, you just assume that unlock will come sometime but this method simply root your VZN Gs4. This guide shows you how to root Galaxy S4 on Verizon network, ensure you own a Windows PC with USB device drivers installed, you can download official drivers for phone from here.

Step #1: Download following files:
- Download ODIN v3.07
- Download the VRUAMD2 Prerelease Kernel
- Download the VRUAMDK Stock Kernel
- Download the Motochopper Root Exploit Tool
Step #2: Unzip Odin and Motochopper Root Exploit Tool.
Step #3: Turn off your Verizon Galaxy S4.
Step #4: Boot phone into download mode by holding down volume down, home and power buttons until you see disclaimer, then press volume up button to enter, when you see green robot is visible, you’re in download mode.
Step #5: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will turn yellow and a message saying ADDED will appear. (Note: If Odin doesn’t detect the device, make sure that USB drivers are properly installed on your computer).
Step #6: Click on PDA Button and locate VRUAMD2 Prerelease Kernel file that you downloaded in first step (Note: Don’t make any change, just make sure that re-partition is unchecked).
Step #7: Once the installation is done and you’ve see passed message, reboot phone into Android and make sure everything is still working and the kernel has flashed successfully on phone.
Step #8: Enable unknown resources from Setting>Security.
Step #9: Enable USB Debugging from developer options, there also make sure “Verify apps via USB” is unchecked.
Step #10: Plug phone back to PC.
Step #11: Open Motochopper folder that you got in second step and open “Run.bat” file.
It’ll start rooting, if everything is done successfully, your phone will reboot.
Step #12: Go to app drawer and run SuperSU app, then let the binary update itself to the latest, it’s very important.
Step #13: Once you’re done, launch the root app and ensure root access is working perfectly.
Step #14: Now it’s good to return to stock kernel because mismatched ROM may cause issues, so continue the process.
Step #15: Turn off phone and reboot into download mode (see step 4).
Step #16: Follow the step 5 and step 6 and install the VRUAMDK Stock Kernel with Odin in same manners.
Step #17: Once your phone is booted in Android mode, unplug it from PC.
