How To Root Your LG Optimus 4X HD

The Optimus 4X HD took almost one month to get root access, however, now you’re able to root Optimus 4X HD, say thanks to senior XDA developer member alexp999 for this great effort, here’s step by step guide to root your LG Optimus 4X HD, it will allow you to install all root-required apps but do bear in mind that since rooting will void the limitations of LG on your phone, it will also void the warranty of your Optimus 4X HD, here I ‘d like to say that, think twice before you root.
Before rooting, make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps. USB drivers must be installed on your computer, you can download drivers from here, unzip the downloaded drivers file and install them. Disable all system tools such as antivirus, firewall program. On your Optimus 4X HD, turn the USB Debugging on, to do so just tap Menu> Settings> Application> Development. You also need to enable Unknown sources, you can enable it from Settings>Security.

Step #1: Download HTC One X Toolkit from XDA, it’s for One X but you need to use it for rooting.
Step #2: Unzip the downloaded onxr.zip into a folder on computer.
Step #3: Download and install on your phone IS11LG_SystemBackupTest.signed.apk (Note: You can install the apk file via any file manager, I recommend you file expert app, simply enable Unknown sources, you can enable it from Settings>Security, then locate the apk file via file manager app and tap on the file to start installation).
Step #4: Once the above apk file is installed on your phone, press and hold down the power button, from the appeared option, select power off and restart option to reboot phone, after rebooting, you may feel that phone’s performance is bit slow, it’s normal, don’t be worried about that.
Step #5: Plug your Optimus 4X HD smartphone to PC using USB cable, the computer will ask for driver installation, install them.
Step #6: Go to the folder where you’ve unzipped above One X toolkit, there right-click on root file, from the appeared menu select Run as administrator, it will start rooting (Note: The device will reboot three times during rooting, after rooting, rooting window will close itself, if it doesn’t close, close it yourself).
Step #7: Open the Google Play Store, download and install SuperSu app.
Step #8: Launch SuperSU app, tap on OK to update the SU binary., after that close the app.
Step #9: Uninstall the SystemBackupTest app from Settings>Apps.
