How To Unlock AT&T Optimus G Bootloader – Guide
The AT&T Optimus G is another new LG smartphone that comes with a locked bootloader but Android development is expert in hacks, they like to remove the blocks of manufacturer on Android devices like a method to unlock the bootloader for AT&T Optimus G is now available using FreeGee tool, it also install the ClockworkMod recovery on your AT&T Optimus G.
However it’s important to note that unlocking the bootloader will void the warranty of your Optimus G and there’s no method to relock the bootloader again currently, however if you receive any OTA update, it might replace unlocked bootloader with a new locked bootloader.

Be sure to make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the unlocking bootloader will wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Step #1: Download FreeGee Bootloader Unlocking Tool Package from XDA to your computer.
Step #2: Unzip the downloaded .zip file into a folder.
Step #3: Plug your phone to computer using a USB cable, the computer may ask for drivers installation, let them install.
Step #4: Open the folder where you’ve unzipped above file and open freegee file.
Step #5: Press any key to continue the process and follow onscreen instructions.
Step #6:Once the bootloader is unlocked, turn your phone off.
Step #7: Reboot your phone by holding down volume up and power buttons, it will take you to bootloader mode.
Step #8: Once you’re in bootloader mode, use volume keys to navigate and power button to select. There you’ll see following options:
- Start: It’s default option to reboot phone into bootloader mode.
- Restart Bootloader: You can select it with volume down button to reboot phone into bootloader mode again.
- Recovery Mode: You can press volume down button twice to navigate to this option, it will take you to ClockworkMod recovery mode that can used to install .zip files, perform backups and perform wipe.
- Power Off: This option power off your phone.
That’s it, the bootloader of your AT&T Optimus G is now unlocked.
