Install Android 4.0.3 ICS “CyanogenMod 9 nightly build” on Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100

A few days ago, CyanogenMod 9 (CM9) nightly builds released for many device such as Galaxy Nexus, Motorola Xoom and more. This CyanogenMod 9 nightly builds also has released for Samsung Galaxy S2 Gt-I9100 that based on Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich. It’s ported from Galaxy Nexus “IM74K”, it’s stable for daily use and has so many new features and improvements. But still some features not working like FM Radio is not implemented, TV Out is not working properly, Phone Encryption is not working and GPS ephemeride (orbit data) preloading broken. The NFC support on GT-I9100P and SGH-I777 is also missing.

Install Android 4.0.3 ICS “CyanogenMod 9 nightly build” on Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100

If you want nightly build on your Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100, just follow below guide. But keep in mind that your device must be rooted  ClockworkMod recovery installed its battery should be charged. Disable all system tools such as Samsung KIES, antivirus, firewall program, please make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure will wipe all data, you can use file expert app to backup and turn the USB Debugging on, to do so just tap Menu> Settings> Application> Development. Then, make sure that USB debugging is checked. Please use Windows PC and USB drivers should be installed on PC, if you don’t have drivers you can download for 32-bit from here and 64-bit from here. Please note that this ROM is just for Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100, so don’t try it any other device, just go Settings > About Phone to check the device model.

DISCLAIMER: The below method is bit risky and we will not be held responsible if you lose data or your device gets damaged in the following of this guide so please proceed at your own risk.

Instructions

First time Install CyanogenMod 9 On Galaxy S2

Step #1: First of all make sure that your Galaxy S2 is running lower than XXLPH firmware like XXLPB firmware.

Step #2: Download CM9 nightly build and Google Apps.

Step #3: Connect Galaxy S2 to PC using USB cable and transfer the downloaded file to internal SD card of phone.

Step #4: Disconnect the device from PC and turn it off.

Step #5: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down the Volume Up, Home, and Power buttons.

Step #6: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of existing ROM, if anything should not work out something expected on this ROM, it will helps you to easily revert back to your current state, to create select “Backup and Restore”, and on the screen that follows select “Backup” again.

Step #7: Go back to main recovery menu and select “Install Zip from SD Card” then select the CyanogenMod 9 package from your SD card, it will start flashing CM9.

Step #8: Repeat the last step to install Google apps.

Step #9: Go back to main recovery menu.

Step #10: Wipe data:

  • Select Wipe data/factory reset and confirm the reset.
  • Select Wipe cache partition and confirm the wipe.
  • Select Advanced > Wipe Dalvik cache and confirm the cache wipe.

Step #11: Go back to main menu and select Reboot system now. That’s it.

Install CyanogenMod 9 nightly build From Eariler Version of CyanogenMod 9

Step #1: If you’ve already installed CM9 on your Galaxy S2, follow this method, first download CM9 nightly build.

Step #3: Connect Galaxy S2 to PC using USB cable and transfer the downloaded file to internal SD card of phone.

Step #4: Disconnect the device from PC and turn it off.

Step #5: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down the Volume Up, Home, and Power buttons.

Step #6: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of existing ROM, if anything should not work out something expected on this ROM, it will helps you to easily revert back to your current state, to create select “Backup and Restore”, and on the screen that follows select “Backup” again.

Step #7: Go back to main recovery menu and select “Install Zip from SD Card” then select the CyanogenMod 9 package from your SD card, it will start flashing CM9.

Step #9: Go back to main recovery menu.

Step #10: Wipe data:

  • Select Wipe data/factory reset and confirm the reset.
  • Select Wipe cache partition and confirm the wipe.
  • Select Advanced > Wipe Dalvik cache and confirm the cache wipe.

Step #11: Go back to main menu and select Reboot system now. That’s it.

Install CyanogenMod 9 With Odin3

Step #1: This method is for those, who hasn’t try installation trough Clockworkmod recovery. So first make sure that your Galaxy S2 is running firmware lower than XXLPH like XXLPB firmware.

Step #2: Download  CyanogenMod 9 Resurrection Edition and Google apps package.

Step #3: Connect Galaxy S2 to PC using USB cable and transfer the downloaded Google apps file to root of internal SD card of phone. .

Step #4: Disconnect the device from PC.

Step #5: Run Odin3 on PC, click on PDA button on Odin3 window and select CyanogenMod 9 Resurrection Edition file that you’ve downloaded in step 2.

Step #6: Turn your Galaxy S2 off.

Step #7: Reboot Galaxy S2 into download mode by holding down the Volume Down key, Home key, and Power button simultaneously until a “Warning” sign appears on the screen.  Press the Volume Up key to continue, it will put the phone in download mode your Galaxy S2.

Step #8: Once again connect the phone to PC using USB cable, Odin will detect the phone, you’ll see Added message and ID:COM box will become yellow.

Step #9: Now click on start button, the installation will start, once it done successfully, the boxes will become show message PASSED and will become green. (Note: If installation failed with red background, follow these steps: Unplugged phone from PC, close Odin3, after that remove your phone′s battery. Now re-insert the battery. Start installation again from step 5.)

Step #10: Now just wait unless the device rebooted, once it rebooted unplugged from PC.

Step #11: Turn the device off and reboot into recovery mode by by holding down the Volume Up, Home, and Power buttons until you see the Galaxy S2 logo on screen.

Step #12: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then select the Google apps package from your SD card, it will start flashing Google apps.

Step #13: Go back to main recovery menu.

Step #14: Wipe data:

  • Select Wipe data/factory reset and confirm the reset.
  • Select Wipe cache partition and confirm the wipe.
  • Select Advanced > Wipe Dalvik cache and confirm the cache wipe.

Step #15: Go back to main menu and select Reboot system now. That’s it.

    M using galaxy s2 and i have installed ics 4.0.3
    Nd my buid number is IML74K.XWLP7
    Will it work on it???

      yes…..just model number should be i9100 and device should be rooted with CWM recovery installed….
