Install Android 4.0.4 ICS Based Official CM9 on Nitro HD P930

Recently CyanogenMod team released the CyanogenMod 9 (CM9) ROM officially for the LG Nitro HD P930 that based on Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, the ROM brings a really faster performance to your phone, the interface is very smooth as butter, the developer packed the 9 with lots of customizable features. Since this is AOSP based custom ROM, it will give you fully stock Ice Cream Sandwich experience.

The ROM is very stable for the daily use, so must try this ROM if you want to taste pure Ice Cream Sandwich.

Take a look at below guide to learn how to install CyanogenMod 9 on LG Nitro HD P930. Keep in mind that your device must be rooted with ClockworkMod recovery installed its battery should be charged. Create a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the CyanogenMod 9 from here (cm-9.0.0-p930.zip, md5sum: 5f79c3bf154ca0712e9d2faa93bac222) and also download Google Apps package from here or here (gapps-ics-20120317-signed.zip, md5sum: dc560aa235e8dd8cb00df0cefb5abd38).

Step #2: Copy both downloaded files to internal SD card of your phone.

Step #3: Turn the device off and put the phone into ClockworkMod recovery mode, to do so reboot device by holding down volume down and power buttons until screen turns on (Note: In recovery mode use volume keys to navigate and power button to select).

Step #4: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything goes wrong or anything you expect from the ROM doesn’t work, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, then select “Backup”.

Step #5: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen then select wipe cache and confirm on the next screen. After that, from the main menu, select Advanced, then select Wipe Dalvik cache and confirm the action on the next screen. Lastly go to mounts and storage and select  Format system.

Step #6: Return to the main menu, there select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the cm-9.0.0-p930.zip file that you’ve copied in above step and confirm installation.

Step #7: Once the above .zip file is installed on the phone, repeat the last step again and also install gapps-ics-20120317-signed.zip in the same manner.

Step #8: Once both .zip files are installed on the phone, return to main menu and reboot phone, to do so select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”
