Good news for Samsung Galaxy S users, CM team has released CyanogenMod 9 Nightly build for your device, based on AOPS, it’s Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich ROM. Developer made changes on the ROM everyday, it’s very stable but still has some bugs. Some users already has updated this ROM, they can easily update the ROM, they just skip wipe data step and start directly installation.

Follow below guide, but keep in mind that your device must be rooted with ClockworkMod recovery installed its battery should be charged. Make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup to back apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download latest CyanogenMod 9 and Google Apps to PC.

Step #2: Plug the device to PC using USB cable.

Step #3: Transfer the downloaded file to root of internal SD card of device.

Step #4: Disconnect the device from PC.

Step #5: Turn the device off.

Step #6: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down Volume Up key + Home button + Power button, when screen appear you’re done. Now navigate with Volume button and select with Power.

Step #7: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #8: Perform full wipe,  first select Wipe data/factory reset and confirm on screen then select Wipe cache and confirm on next screen.

Step #9: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded ROM file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete.

Step #10: Repeat last step for Google Apps.

Step #11: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.” That’s it, enjoy!
