Samsung announced that Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 won’t get Ice Cream Sandwich update, so owners of Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 have to install custom ROMs to taste Ice Cream Sandwich. A few days ago Elite custom ROM was released for Galaxy S GT-I9000, now the developer updated the Elite ROM to version RC 1.2 that based on Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich build IMM76K (first released for Galaxy Nexus).

The Elite ROM RC 1.2 is still in development stage, which means it may has some bugs, but the ROM has great features such as Toogles via CWM, T9 Dialer via CWM, FaceUnlock via CWM, Contact tones and more. The ROM brings a smooth and fast interface on your Galaxy S, continue reading to install it on your Samsung Galaxy S model number GT-I9000.

Before you start installation first note that your Galaxy S must be on XXJVU and rooted with ClockworkMod recovery installed. Phone battery should be charged, make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps, and disable SIM card lock from Settings > Location and Security > SIM Card Lock, if it’s enabled.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the Elite ROM RC 1.2ROM to PC.

Step #2: Plug the device to PC using USB cable.

Step #3: Transfer the downloaded file to internal SD card of device.

Step #4: Disconnect the device from PC.

Step #5: Turn the device off.

Step #6: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down the Volume Down + Home + Power buttons until the screen turns on in recovery.

Step #7: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #8: Perform full wipe, first select Wipe Data/Factory Reset and confirm on next screen, then select Wipe Cache Partition and lastly select Wipe Dalvik Cache.

Step #9: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. The device will reboot during installation and continue installation, if the device just reboot and doesn’t start installation, start installation again from step 8.

Step #10: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.” That’s it, enjoy!
