Install Android 4.0.4 ICS ROM “ExROM” On Samsung Vibrant SGH-T959 [How-To]


Owners of Samsung Vibrant should be happy, a brand new ROM “ExROM” 2.0 has released for their Samsung Vibrant SGH-T959, it’s based on Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich , thanks to XDA member hoquangthaiholy, who developed this ROM, it has awesome features like Video record at 720p without blinks, Beats Audio, Apex Launcher, More RAM mem, Optimized Services.jar, Modem Nexus S KF1, and much more. It’s still in development, so you can expect some bugs, however it’s stable for daily use. Bear in mind that this ROM is just for T-Mobile Samsung Vibrant SGH-T959, so don’t try it any other device.

Follow below guide to install it but first note that your T-Mobile Samsung Vibrant SGH-T959 must be rooted with ClockworkMod recovery installed, its battery should be charged, and make back of device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure will wipe all data, you can use file expert app to backup.

DISCLAIMER: The below method is bit risky and we will not be held responsible if you lose data or your device gets damaged in the following of this guide so please proceed at your own risk.

Instructions

Step #1: Download ExROM 2.0 custom ROM package to PC: ExRom-v2.0.zip, 168.73 MB

Step #2: Transfer the downloaded zip file to root of device internal SD card.

Step #3: Turn the device off and reboot into recovery mode by pressing and holding down the Volume Down key, the OK button and the Power button.

Step #4: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of existing ROM, if anything should not work out something expected on this ROM, it will helps you to easily revert back to your current state, to create select “Backup and Restore”, and on the screen that follows select “Backup” again.

Step #5: Now return to main recovery menu.

Step #6: Select Wipe data/factory reset and confirm the action on the next screen.

Step #7: Select Wipe cache partition and confirm the action on the next screen.

Step #8: Select Advanced > Wipe Dalvik cache and confirm the action on the next screen. After that return to main recovery menu.

Step #9: Now select Install Zip from SD Card > Choose Zip from SD Card.  Select the ExROM 2.0 zip file. Installation will start, it make take some time, so wait until it done.

Step #10: Now select “Go Back.” After that select “Reboot System Now.” That’s it, enjoy Android 4.0.4 ICS, don’t forget to comment.
