Install Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean Based CyanogenMod 10 on Acer Iconia A100

Will Acer Iconia Tab A100 get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean? There’s no update, so what to do to taste Jelly Bean? Here’s solution, use CyanogenMod 10 (CM10) that based on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean, the CM10 has been released for the Iconia A100, thanks to senior XDA developer member waydownsouth.

It’s just a preview build, so it may not be stable for the daily drive, however many things are working fine such as Storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Camera, Sounds, GPS (Hax), H/W Rotation Lock, 2D and 3D acceleration, and HDMI video and audio.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the latest version of ROM from here [XDA LINK] and also download the Google Apps Package

Step #2: Transfer the downloaded file to SD card of device.

Step #3: Turn the device off.

Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down volume up and power buttons (Note: In recovery mode use volume keys to navigate and power button to select).

Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #6: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen then select wipe cache and confirm on the next screen. Then from the main menu, select Advanced and select Wipe Dalvik cache, then confirm the action on the next screen.

Step #7: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete. After ROM .zip file installation, install the Google Apps .zip file in the same manner.

Step #8: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”

That’s it, enjoy Jelly Bean, to go back, simply put the device into recovery mode and restore the backup. Do comment for queries, you can also visit the original thread of XDA link given in first step.
