Install Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean ROM on Kindle Fire


After the release of Jelly Bean AOSP source code by Google, Jelly Bean is continually porting to more and more Android devices and now also available for the Amazon Kindle Fire, thanks to recognized XDA developer member Hashcode.

Recently Google released the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update for Nexus devices through OTA and the developer ported the ROM from the Nexus OTA update. However it’s first build that means it may has some bugs like developer mentioned that HD codecs ( Netflix) bugs, but developer promised to fix the bug as soon as possible, he’ll release more stable build soon with no bugs and you’ll enjoy new updates for Kindle Fire. Be sure to try this build by following below guide.

Before installation first make sure that a custom recovery is installed on your Kindle Fire, follow our this guide to install and make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: To update Kindle Fire to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with Custom ROM first Download the latest version of ROM from here [XDA LINK] and Google Apps to PC and transfer both files to the SD card.

Step #2: Turn the device off.

Step #3: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down power button, when triangle appear, press the power button again and it will take you to recovery mode.

Step #4: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup” again.

Step #5: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset.

Step #6: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded ROM .zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete, after that also install Google Apps .zip file in the same manner.

Step #7: Once the installation is completed, select “Reboot System Now.”
