Install Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for Galaxy S Advance Manually [official OTA]

After a long wait the Samsung Galaxy S Advance is receiving the Jelly Bean update officially, in recent times many Samsung smartphones and tablets has got the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update and now Galaxy S Advance Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update is also being rolled through OTA (over the air) and KIES. Jelly Bean brings many features such as improved UI, improved performance, the performance is as smooth as butter, Google now app, expandable notification, resizable widgets, keyboard with offline voice support and more.

However the official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for Galaxy S Advance is currently available just in Russia, Samsung will push the update to other countries soon in near future, we don’t have official word when, but if you can’t wait download and install the Jelly Bean update on Galaxy S Advance manually or if you live in Russia but can’t update Galaxy S Advance to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean with OTA or KIES, you may also install the update manually.

The below guide walks you through how to install official I9070XXLPY Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware on Galaxy Advance. Use a Windows PC with USB phone drivers installed, you can use Samsung KIES to install drivers and be sure to back up everything especially if you’re on a custom ROM below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for Galaxy S Advance from here to your computer [official I9070XXLPY Android 4.1.2 firmware, file name: I9070XXLPY_I9070SERLPY_SER.zip].

Step #2: Download the Odin3_v3.04.zip to your computer.

Step #3: Unzip both downloaded zip files into a folder.

Step #4: Open the folder where you’ve unzipped above files and run Odin3 v3.04.exe.

Step #5: Turn the device off.

Step #6: Reboot the device into download mode, to do so reboot phone by holding down volume down, home and power buttons until it turns on and you see a warning screen, then press the volume up button to enter in download mode.

Step #7: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will turn yellow and a message saying ADDED will appear. (Note: If Odin doesn’t detect the device, make sure that USB drivers are properly installed on your computer).

Step #8: Click on PDA Button and locate I9070XXLPY_I9070SERLPY_SER _HOME.tar.md5 from the folder where you’ve unzipped above files in the step 2. (Note: Don’t make any change, just make sure that re-partition is unchecked).

Step #9: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS (Note: If Odin refuse to install the update and show message FAIL, or get stuck, close the Odin and unplug device, then pull out battery from the device for a few seconds. Then put the battery back to the device and reboot into download mode. Then install the firmware again.

Step #10: If your device reboot into normal mode, you’re done, enjoy! But if you device gets stuck at boot screen, you need to perform wipe, to do so, turn off device, then reboot into recovery mode by holding down volume up, home and power buttons, in recovery mode, select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen. Once it done, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now” to reboot phone.

That’s it, you’re done the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update is now installed on your Galaxy S Advance. If you experience any error during installation, holler in comment section.

    I have updated my S Advance with JB but encounter problem with mobile data where no internet connection even mobile data is on.. and sometime it lose network signal.. please help regarding on this problem..

      yup, you may install JB manually on any Galaxy S Advance having model number I9070, check model number from Setting>About Phone….

    Hi, i’ve completed this tutorial 2 days ago and i observed that my battery is drained in 15-20 h in standby, what can i do ?
