Install Android 4.1 AOKP on Verizon Galaxy Nexus [How-To]
The latest AOKP custom ROM version is based on Android 4.1.1 Jelly bean and has been released for your Verizon Galaxy Nexus, this is not pure AOKP build because the developer has also added some CyanogenMod 10 features to the ROM such as themes, thanks to XDA developer member hoang81. The AOKP is popular due to its advanced customization options and bring a faster performance to your Verizon Galaxy Nexus.
The ROM is very stable for the daily use and almost everything is working fine but do keep in mind that since Jelly Bean based AOKP is under development stages, might be some customizable features are missing, will take a few updates to be fully added to it and you may also expect bugs.
Follow below step by step guides to install Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean based AOKP on Verizon Galaxy Nexus, make sure the bootloader of your Verizon smartphone is unlocked and ClockworkMod recovery is installed, use all-in-one toolkit to do so, and also make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions
Step #1: Download the AOKP ROM from here [XDA LINK], and also download Google Apps from here.
Step #2: Copy both .zip files to your Galaxy smartphone.
Step #3: Turn off phone, then reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down volume down, volume up, and power buttons, first you’ll enter in Fastboot mode, in the fastboot mode use volume keys to navigate and power button to select, there you need to select recovery option to enter in recovery mode.
Step #4: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.
Step #5: Select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen.
Step #6: Select Install and locate the downloaded ROM .zip file and confirm installation. Once the file is installed, install Google Apps .zip file too in the same manner.
Step #7: Select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”
