Install Android 4.1 Based CodefireX ROM on HTC EVO 4G LTE
When HTC will provide the sweetness of Jelly Bean to HTC EVO 4G LTE? There’s no official word currently but Android development community can help you in different ways like it cooks custom ROMs to taste the latest OS update before the official releases like a XDA developer member ZanzDroid has just released an Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean based CodefireX ROM for the HTC EVO 4G LTE.
The CodefireX is built from CyanogenMod 10 but present some more useful features while it’s in nightlies stage, where it makes a new built daily itself to give latest improvements and keep you up to date. The feature list of ROM and OS (Jelly Bean) is very noticeable and as most of you know well that the Jelly Bean offers number of new features and apps such as Google Now app, advance notification bar, new smarter keyboard, improved camera app and much more.
The ROM is still is developer’s kitchen and developer is working on it, so it might contains some bugs and issues but he’ll iron out them soon in near future and you can install the ROM now.
Let’s learn how to install Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean based CodefireX ROM on HTC EVO 4G LTE. The bootloader of your HTC smartphone must be unlocked and a custom recovery also must be installed on the phone, be sure to follow our this guide to unlock bootloader and install custom recovery. You need to make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Step #2: Transfer the downloaded file to the internal SD card of device.
Step #3: Turn the device off.
Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode, to do so, reboot phone by holding down volume down and power buttons, the device will enter in bootloader mode, there use volume keys to navigate and power button to select, you need to select Recovery option to enter in TWRP recovery mode.
Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup”, then slide the blue circle button to right, it will start backing up.
Step #6: Return to main menu, there perform wipe, first select the wipe, then select factory reset, and confirm on the action.
Step #7: Select “Install” and locate the downloaded ROM .zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Once the ROM .zip file installation is done, also install the Google Apps package .zip file in the same manner.
Step #8: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now” to reboot phone.
