Install Android 4.1 Based ParanoidAndroid ROM on Verizon Galaxy S3 – Features Phablet UI

The Paranoid Android ROM is porting to more and more Android devices, it’s a best way to get a tablet user interface on a smartphone, its hybrid phone and tablet interface is really unique that lets you to scale different aspects of interface according to your choice. The ParanoidAndroid ROM is based on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean and as most of you know very well about the latest Android Jelly Bean version that comes with a lot of new features and apps such as better notification bar, better camera app, better keyboard, new search feature and Google Now app, it brings a smooth interface to your device.

Recently a senior XDA developer member notta ported the Paranoid Android ROM to Verizon Galaxy S3, the ROM is stable for the daily use but still is in development stages, so bugs can be expected.

Take a look at below guide to learn how to install ParanoidAndroid ROM on Verizon Galaxy S3. Do keep in mind that the bootloader of your Verizon Galaxy S3 must be unlocked, be sure to follow our this guide to unlock. The ClockworkMod recovery also should be installed on your phone, you can follow our this guide to install ClockworkMod. Please make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the latest version of ROM from here [XDA LINK] and Google Apps Package (gapps-jb-20120726-signed.zip) from here or here.

Step #2: Transfer the downloaded file to SD card of device.

Step #3: Turn the device off.

Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down volume up, home and power buttons until screen turns on (Note: In recovery mode use volume keys to navigate and power button to select).

Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #6: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen.

Step #7: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded ROM .zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete, after ROM .zip file installation, also install Google Apps package .zip file in the same manner.

Step #8: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”
