Install Android 4.1 Based X-Bean ROM on Samsung Captivate
The Samsung Captivate i897 has already received many Jelly Bean based ROMs and here we’re with another one, the X-Bean custom ROM that based on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean developed by a senior XDA developer member AceofSpades90, the developer packed the X-Bean ROM with a lot of useful features for a fast performance and reliable system.
Captivate’s X-Bean ROM port is built from CyanogenMod 10 (AOSP) that gives you fully stock Jelly Bean experience and has a lot of customizable features to customize different aspects of interface. It’s important to note that some features of stock firmware aren’t included in the ROM like FM Radio and 3G video calling but don’t be worried about that you have to option to use any third-party app to get these functions.
Read on how to install X-Bean ROM on AT&T Captivate i897, do keep in mind that ClockworkMod recovery must be installed on your smartphone, it’s battery should be charged and be sure to make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Step #2: Transfer both downloaded .zip files to the internal SD card of device.
Step #3: Turn the device off.
Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down the volume up, volume down and power buttons (Note: In recovery mode use volume keys to navigate and power button to select).
Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.
Step #6: Perform wipe, select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen.
Step #7: Repeat the step 6 for two times, you needs to wipe for 3 times.
Step #8: Now select Wipe cache partition and confirm this on the next screen.
Step #9: Now select Advanced > Wipe Dalvik cache and confirm on the next screen.
Step #10: Now select Mounts and storage > Format /system and confirm on the next screen.
Step #11: Now select Mounts and storage > Format /cache and confirm on the next screen.
Step #12: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded ROM .zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete.
Step #13: Once again repeat the step 12 again, developer recommends installation of ROM .zip file for two times.
Step #14: Return to main menu, there select Wipe data/Factory reset and confirm on the next screen.
Step #15: Now select Advanced > Fix permissions.
Step #16: From the main menu, select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded Google Apps package .zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete.
Step #17: From the main recovery menu, select Advanced > Fix permissions.
Step #18: Select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”
