Install Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on HTC Desire HD – JellyTime ROM

The HTC Desire HD users are now able to taste Jelly Bean via a custom ROM named JellyTime, the JellyTime custom ROM for HTC Desire HD is based on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean and is built from the CyanogenMod. The ROM includes Galaxy S3 wallpapers, so you can give Galaxy S3 look and feel to HTC Desire HD with it.

The JellyTime ROM is pretty stable but still being updated, so there may be some issues with the ROM like headset buttons aren’t working, however almost other all things are working fine so give it a try to enjoy Android 4.1 Jelly Bean that brings a lot of new features to your HTC Desire HD such as faster performance, Google Now search, improved camera app, advanced notification bar and more.

The below guide will walk you through how to upgrade HTC Desire HD to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean via JellyTime custom ROM. Do keep in mind that the ClockworkMod recovery must be installed on your Desire HD, be sure to make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the latest version of JellyTime ROM from and Google Apps Package.

Step #2: Transfer both ROM and Google Apps .zip files to the SD card of your Desire HD.

Step #3: Turn off your Desire HD.

Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode by pressing and holding down volume down and power buttons, first you’ll see HBOOT, there select recovery option (Note: In recovery mode use volume keys to navigate and power button to select).

Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #6: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen. Then select mounts and storage, then select format /system it will format system partition, you may need to confirm the action on next screen.

Step #7: Return to main menu by selecting “Go Back”.

Step #8: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded ROM .zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete.

Step #9: Repeat the previous step again and install the Google Apps package .zip file in the same manner.

Step #10: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now” to reboot your phone.

    Unfortunately, the Setup Wizard has stopped. It just keeps coming up even when I press “OK”
