Install Android 4.2.1 OTA update for Sprint Galaxy Nexus manually [How-To]
The Sprint Galaxy Nexus is now going to receive the Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean update officially through OTA even it has been released the Android 4.2.1 update for Sprint Galaxy Nexus on Google’s server that can be installed manually on your Sprint Galaxy Nexus if you can’t wait for the OTA notification or can’t install via OTA, it’s GA02 build.
Note that you don’t need to root your Sprint Galaxy Nexus before installation of this OTA update, the below guide shows you how to install the Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean update for Sprint Galaxy Nexus.

Method #1: Install via custom recovery
Step #1: Make sure you’re on build FH05, you may check the device detail from Setting>About Phone.
Step #2: Download the Android 4.2.1 OTA update for Sprint Galaxy Nexus from here.
Step #3: Copy the zip file to your Sprint Galaxy Nexus and turn it off.
Step #4: Reboot phone into recovery mode, to do so reboot phone by holding down volume up, volume down and power buttons, the device will reboot into fastboot mode, in fastboot mode, use volume keys to navigate and power button to select and select recovery option.
Step #5: Make backup of your current ROM, it’s important.
Step #6: Select “install” and install zip file you just copied to your phone.
Step #7: Go back and select “Reboot System Now” to reboot system.
Method #2: Install via ADB
Step #1: Use Windows PC and make sure Android ADB drivers are installed on your PC, you may follow our this guide to install them.
Step #2: Make sure USB drivers installed. You can download drivers from here.
Step #3: Download the Android 4.2.1 OTA update (c5ea6e959840.update_mysidspr_FH05_to_GA02.zip) to your PC.
Step #4: Copy the downloaded zip file to C:\.
Step #5: Turn your phone off.
Step #6: Reboot your phone into recovery mode, to do so reboot phone by holding down volume up, volume down and power buttons, you’ll enter in fastboot mode, there use volume keys to navigate and power button to select. You need to select recovery option to enter in recovery mode.
Step #7: Here hold down the power button first, then press volume up button, it will open up the recovery menu, then select “apply update from adb”.
Step #8: Plug your phone to PC, it may ask for drivers installation, let them install.
Step #9: Open the command prompt, you can find it from start menu>programs>accessories.
Step #10: Enter following command, it will take you to fastboot folder:
Step #11: Enter following command, it will deliver your Galaxy Nexus ID number, if it delivers, your phone is connected to PC properly. Otherwise make sure device drivers are installed properly.
Step #12: Enter the following command to install the downloaded Android 4.2 OTA update .zip file, it will show up a sending side load message, after that it will start the installation:
adb sideload c5ea6e959840.update_mysidspr_FH05_to_GA02.zip
Step #13: Once the installation is done, on your phone select “reboot system now” to reboot the phone.
Method #3: Install via Odin
Step #1: Download the Android 4.2.1 Update and Odin3 v3.04 from XDA, then unzip both files into a folder.
Step #2: Open the folder where you’ve unzipped above file and run Odin3 v3.04.exe.
Step #3: Turn the device off.
Step #4: Reboot the device into download mode
Step #5: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will turn yellow and a message saying ADDED will appear. (Note: If Odin doesn’t detect the device, make sure that USB drivers are properly installed on your computer).
Step #6: Click on PDA Button and locate CODE_I9250XXSPH-L700GA02.tar.md5 from the folder where you’ve unzipped above files in the step 1. (Note: Don’t make any change, just make sure that re-partition is unchecked).
Step #7: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS, the first boot may take time (Note: If Odin refuse to install the update and show message FAIL, or get stuck, close the Odin and unplug device, then pull out battery from the device for a few seconds. Then put the battery back to the device and reboot into download mode. Then install the firmware again).
Step #8: Unplug the phone from PC.
