Install Android 4.2 Based CyanogenMod 10.1 on Galaxy Tab 2 7


Android development community is spreading the CyanogenMod 10.1 continually, recently the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7 received the CyanogenMod 10.1 that is based on Android 4.2 while offering a wonderful list of customizable features and apps that allow you to customize the interface of your 7-inch tablet. And the newer Android 4.2 also brought a number of useful features to us such as Panorama mode for photography, improved Gmail app, improved notification bar, and more.

It’s important to note that since CyanogenMod 10.1 is AOSP ROM, there’s no Samsung app included, it’s still under development and not very stable for the daily use, you might face some bugs, however the CyanogenMod team is working, we’ll hopefully see a more stable build soon. So you can give it a try to taste the goodness of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the CyanogenMod 10.1 ROM and Google Apps package from XDA.

Step #2: Transfer both zip files to the internal storage of your tablet.

Step #3: Turn the device off.

Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode, to do so reboot tablet by holding down volume down and power buttons, when Samsung logo appears, release the power button but the volume down button until ClockworkMod logo appear.

Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #6: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen.

Step #7: Return to main menu by selecting “Go Back”.

Step #8: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded ROM zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete.

Step #9: Once the installation is done, also install the Google Apps Package zip file.

Step #10: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”
