Install Android 4.2 Jelly Bean ROM on HTC One X
In recent times the HTC One X received the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update but the Android 4.2 has also been released and offers quite impressive features such as photo sphere for panorama photography mode, wireless sharing for different devices like TV, gesture-based keyboard and more. There’s no official word about the Android 4.2 release for HTC One X, but Android development community is expert for providing Android updates before release.
XDA developer pabx has released an Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean ROM for the HTC One X, however it’s also important to note that it’s currently in early stages and many things aren’t working currently such as Camera, Audio recording, Bluetooth, installation of paid apps and might be more. The developer is working on the ROM to iron out bugs, so you may install this ROM to taste Android 4.2.1 Jelly Beans.
This guide shows you how to install Jelly Bean 4.2.1 ROM on HTC One X, but do keep in mind that your One X must have unlocked bootloader and ClockworkMod recovery installed. You can unlock bootloader officially here and install ClockworkMod recovery here. Make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps. You need a Windows PC with USB drivers installed, use the HTC Sync to install them.

First of all, turn off your HTC One X and reboot into recovery mode by holding down volume down and power buttons, you’ll enter in bootloader mode, there select recovery option to enter in recovery mode by using volume keys and power keys, once you’re in recovery mode, there make a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything goes wrong, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.
Step #1: Download the latest version of custom ROM from here [XDA Link] and place the zip file to your phone.
Step #2: Download the Flash_Boot.zip to your PC and unzip into a folder.
Step #3: Unzip the ROM zip file too, you’ll get a boot.img file, copy this file to the Flash Boot folder that you obtained in previous step.
Step #4: Turn off the phone and reboot into bootloader mode by holding down volume down and power buttons, there select fastboot option to enter in fastboot folder.
Step #5: Once your phone is in fastboot mode, plug it to the PC using a USB cable.
Step #6: Open the Flash Boot folder and run flash-boot-windows.bat file, it will install the required boot.img to your phone.
Step #7: Once the installation is done, on your phone select bootloader to enter in bootloader mode, there select recovery option to enter in recovery mode.
Step #8: Perform wipe, select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen.
Step #9: Return to main menu by selecting “Go Back”.
Step #10: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded ROM zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation.
Step #11: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now” to reboot the phone.
