Install AOKP On AT&T Galaxy S3 [How-To]

Mostly people love to use AOKP custom ROM due to its customizable features and this familiar ROM has been released for the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3 but not officially, thanks to XDA developer member smartguy044.

The AOKP custom ROM will give you stock Ice Cream Sandwich experience and number of customization features but do keep in mind that since this is early build of AOKP, it may has some bugs, however it’s ready to try. Read on how to install AOKP on AT&T Galaxy S3.

ClockworkMod recovery should be installed on your AT&T smartphone, you can follow this guide to install it, or just this toolkit for this purpose, device battery should be charged. Make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the latest version of ROM from here [XDA LINK] and Google Apps from here to PC and transfer the both files to SD card of device.

Step #2: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down volume up, home and power buttons (Note: In recovery mode use volume keys to navigate and power button to select).

Step #3: Make a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state, just select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #4: Select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen.

Step #5: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete.

Step #6: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”

    How would I uninstall this and return to stock firmware

      reboot into phone into recovery mode and restore the backup of previous firmware you taken in step 3 but if you haven’t taken the backup you need to install stock firmware using Odin on the phone……
