Install ClockworkMod Recovery for Xperia Acro S

The ClockworkMod recovery has become a most popular custom recovery to flash .zip files containing custom ROM, MODs, hacks and more, it lets you to easily take the backup of device firmware and wipe the device when you need.

Those of you who own an Xperia Acro S and now want ClockworkMod recovery (CWM), here’s how to install ClockworkMod recovery on Xperia Acro S. Your phone must be rooted, you can follow our this guide to root the Acro S and do keep in mind that it will replace the stock kernel with CWM recovery kernel. The Bootloader of your phone also should be unlocked, you can unlock bootloader officially here. Be sure to make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download following required files: AcroS_Kernel_61A245.zip [XDA Link] – fastboot_with_Android_USB_file.rar [XDA Link]

Step #2: Unzip the downloaded fastboot_with_Android_USB_file.rar to C:\, you’ll get two folders named fastboot and usb_driver.

Step #3: Turn off your phone.

Step #4: Now you need to connect phone to PC in fastboot mode, to do so, plug the USB cable to PC but not to phone, then on your phone hold down volume up while plugging the USB cable to phone. Windows will automatically device drivers, if it doesn’t happen, open usb_driver folder and install.

Step #5: Now on your PC, run command prompt that can be found Programs>Accessories.

Step #6: Enter following commands to install kernel:

cd c:\fastboot_with_Android_USB_file\fastboot

fastboot flash boot kernel-cwm.elf

Step #7: Reboot your phone, and tap on the Sony logo when booting and the blue LED show up, it will enter the device into recovery mode.
