How To Install A Custom Recovery on HTC One M8 (TWRP/PhilZ Touch/CWM)
The HTC One M8 is shiny and powerful enabling you to make life easy quickly in many ways. It is the best Android smartphone of this year and better than its predecessor. With all that out of the way, third party developers are paying attention to this awesome HTC phone and generating delicious custom ROMs. But before you get excited about them, you need a custom recovery installed on your phone and it is the platform to get a good HTC One M8 custom recovery.
Three very popular custom recoveries are available for the phone enabling you to enjoy custom ROMs easily, TWRP, CWM, and CWM advanced edition (PhilZ touch recovery). The CWM does perform basic tasks such as installation of zip file, wipe and backup. If you go for advanced edition of this recovery, you will find some extra features that you could miss with original version. This guide shows you how to install a HTC One M8 custom recovery. Make sure the bootloader of your phone is unlocked. We are assuming that USB phone drivers, Android SDK and Fastboot drivers are installed on your Windows computer.

Step #1: Download your favorite custom recovery for M8:
Step #2: Renamed download .img file into recovery.img.
Step #3: Drag the recovery.img file fastboot folder.
Step #4: Enable USB debugging on your M8. Go to Setting>About Phone, tap on Build Number many times until developer option is enabled. Then go to developer options and enable USB debugging.
Step #5: Turn off fastboot option on your HTC One M8, go to settings>power or battery and there make sure fast boot option is not checked.
Step #6: Turn off your HTC M8.
Step #7: Put phone in fastboot mode, reboot it by holding down volume down and power buttons (use volume keys to navigate and select menus with power button there).
Step #8: Connect phone to your Windows computer with help of a USB cable.
Step #9: Fire up command prompt and navigate to fastboot folder on your computer. If you are on Windows 7 or above, you can open the command directly from the folder, to do so open the folder, there press right click while holding down shift button on keyboard and then select “open command window here”.
Step #10: Issue following command in command prompt and press enter (it will shows you the serial number of your HTC One, if it doesn’t show that, your phone is not connected with PC properly, ensure that phone drivers are installed on PC properly):
Step #11: Issue following commands to start installation:
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Step #12: Disconnect phone from computer after installation.
